Movies, movies, movies

We found out Thursday that Niles passed the FCAT!! He decided to celebrate he wanted to go to dinner and the movies. So, just to add to the fun and surprise, Friday Thomas and I picked the kids up early from school, took them to see Nights in the Museum 2, then out to dinner and called it NILES DAY.
Saturday thing got a bit hectic because one car is in the shop, Thomas had to work, and Emily went to the movies with friend leaving me and the boys stranded at home. What to do. Leave it up to SUPER MOM that's whatcha do.
Thomas had brought home a couple of new movies so I suggested to the boys that we hook up the projector and watch the movies on the big screen (or wall) and make some yummy treats. I think they had forgotten that we own a projector.
The best part? I suggested a fort. WOW. Boys and their forts. It serious. I called Christy and asked if she could come over for back up as well as treat patrol since I knew this was going to be quite a mission.
After switching the couch around so we could project on our one free wall the boys decided they wanted sheet hanging from the ceiling like a real tent....I happen to have some extra picture hooks, but what to hang the sheets from as to not interrupt the ceiling fan?
With all the trips to the Vet for Jack Lately I happen to have a few extra disposable leashes. I climbed up on the ladder and hung the first one, but because of the loft, my tall son,now taller than me by a few inches, had to hang the second one. While he was up there he boy scout knotted the leashes so they hung the same length.
Now we just needed some rope....I found no rope but even better, Christmas lights..Icicles at that! I grabbed a bag of safety pins left over from girls camp to pin the sheets together and over the lights. To the right we hung a picture hook on the wall and to the left we used the cylinder from by the front door and held the sheets down with books. We were in business.

The back was held up by the ladder we used to hang the sheets. Starting on top it went..a pile of books holding the sheets, above the ladder which had a bar stool between it with a base speaker sitting on it and the projector on that. We watched movies and ate really yummy strawberry/blackberry shortcake that Christy brought. Here is the view from the inside.
When Emily got home the boys pulled out the mattresses and all slept in the living room!

Sunday Emily wasn't feeling well..head cold, and simple cuz it was Sunday we stayed home and rested...in the tent! Stay tuned for Monday!
