Almost a decade

My youngest child is NINE. Almost a decade...wow. Thomas and I got him a little video game full of old school games. Cuz, anything old school is better right? The Benson's came over with wings to help celebrate.(Chicken wings, not angel wings. In case you wondered.)

Then it was off to Adventure Landing to ride the go-carts. Niles is a monster out there. Really. One other couple was on the track besides my family and Niles tried his best to run the guy off the track.
Next we played laser tag. No pictures allowed but let me tell you who won. NOT the birthday boy, or the insane teenager that scared the pants off me..but that's a whole other entry, or the young man of large stature, or even the patriarch of the house...it was little old me with 19 targeted shots.
I have to confess it was only cuz it was sooo darn dark and scary in the multilevel warehouse with horror movie characters everywhere. Things like Predator and Chuckie. Don't tell me you wouldn't get a few shots off if you came around the corner to find one eyed Chuckie staring at you from his broke down high chair too!! I had no issue shooting Chuckie, one of my own kids or even my husband. In fact I probably found a bit too much gratification in shooting my hubby.
My family was surprised to find I was the winner. I wasn't. Yeah. That's right, I am G.I. Jane. Watch out..I WILL make your vest vibrate buddy.

Just before we left we all piled into a tiny photo booth. When I say tiny I mean microscopic. With a stool the size of a mushroom and five butts piled on top. I took a couple pictures of the pictures.Niles is in the center and these capture all you need to know about Niles. He is definitely the youngest and plays the roll well.

When I think back to the EMT's wheeling him out of the hospital the day he was born to transfer him to the NIC unit in a hospital 10 miles away, I still get teary eyed. My little man spent weeks in the NIC unit . That was one of the most difficult times as a mother for me. Nine years later he is the sunshine in my day. I can't imagine life without my Nilesy and am thankful for what a blessing he is to me. Happy Birthday son!
