Weeping Willows

I am a bit behind on my blogging due to Fay and the start of school. We started school here on the Monday before Fay, the kids had school Monday and Tuesday and then were out the rest of the week due to the storm. This was our view Tuesday night from out front door.

I love the skies and the weather just before a hurricane rolls in, it really is the calm before the storm. Beautiful sunset skies and a nice breeze.
You wouldn't think there was anything coming would you?

Wednesday really wasn't bad, kinda like a continuous rain storm,Thursday the winds came with the rain bands...

The leaves blew completely horizontally with the gusts of up to 60 miles an hour. This is the grass (That needed to be mowed) in our front yard blowing just as hard as the trees. As tradition during every storm we were outside playing catch the grapefruits...what else are we going to do with them?

I should have taken some video so you could hear the sound of the wind...guess you'll just have to imagine it or make your own sound effects!

After four days of movies, (Thankfully we never lost power) Board games and each other we needed a break from our four walls so we went down to the beach to check damages...

It was still really windy, but as you can see we weren't the only ones who needed to get out!

As far as damages, there were lots of trees down, leaves and branches everywhere and LOTS of standing water. This tree is in Nana's back yard. It came to rest on the neighbors house.

This poor weeping willow shall weep no more, it stood to the entrance to our neighborhood.

The road to Nana's house was a bit flooded over but apparently nothing like it was during the storm.

All told we came through this one like champs albeit a bit sick of each other, but hey that's what family is for right?
