Frugal Fruit

Believe it on not It got cold in Florida..an actual hard freeze. It happens. Okay, once a year maybe and certainly not as cold as Minnesota but still enough to ruin any fruit left dangling from our tangerine tree.
I thought I'd go out and pick a few for the kids since I don't eat citrus..something about the little stings floating around on my tongue makes me gag...I love the flavor, just not the texture. Do you know what a a pain it is to render a piece of citrus fruit texture-less? Trust me on that one.
The tree was FULL of fruit. I couldn't leave any behind after all I am trying to be frugal in every aspect of our lives. Frugal for my tree meant 156 Tangerines!!!!
I cut them, aren't they pretty...
then juiced them...all of them, strained the juice,
measured it out, froze most of it..
and made jelly out of one batch..YUMM-O..see kids Mommy can do citrus!

I have never seen so many tangerines in one place! That's insane. I can't believe you actually juiced them all. And that jelly looks way better than mine last year. Very bright and vibrant!
